 Leading consumer goods company Unilever recently announced that it is withdrawing dry shampoos from the US market due to the presence of cancer-causing ingredients.

The company has asked retailers to immediately stop selling these dry shampoos and pull them off their store shelves. Unilever is the parent company of India's leading consumer goods company, Hindustan Unilever. It is the largest manufacturer of various beauty products and body care products ranging from soaps and shampoos.

Dove, Trichem, and Nex are among the dry shampoo brands that Unilever has stopped selling due to the presence of cancer-causing ingredients. The company claims that benzene in these dry shampoos can cause cancer. In its statement, Hindustan Unilever said there is no impact on consumers in India as its dry shampoos are neither manufactured nor sold in India.

But these dry shampoos are available on online sales platforms like Amazon, Business India reported in a news release. According to the news, dry shampoos like Dove Dry Shampoo, Fresh Coconut, Dove Dry Shampoo Spray, and Fresh and Floral are available for sale on Amazon. United Distributors in Bengaluru imports and sells these dry shampoos from the US.

What is dry shampoo?

There is a difference between normal shampoos and dry shampoos. Normally we pour water on the head, wet it, and apply shampoo. But dry shampoos are used to refresh the hair without wetting the head.
